Xreal Launches Aura Android XR Glasses: Pricing, Features, and Availability Details

The day has finally arrived for the official commercial rollout of Xreal’s highly anticipated wearable device, the Aura. In an announcement that has energized the spatial computing community, Xreal has confirmed that its wired Android XR glasses are officially available for consumers across the United States, Canada, Japan, and South Korea.

To mark the launch, Xreal surprised the market with a limited-time promotional pricing structure. The Aura XR glasses, offered in two distinct memory configurations, saw an immediate price reduction of roughly $200 compared to the figures originally teased by the company earlier in the month. Consumers looking to purchase the 12GB RAM and 256GB storage configuration can pick up the device for $1,099. Meanwhile, the larger 16GB RAM and 512GB storage variant is available for $1,299. According to Xreal’s official statements, these promotional price points will remain in effect through December 2026, after which standard pricing will resume at $1,279 and $1,499, respectively.

Initial shipping for the consumer orders is slated to begin in mid-November, with early adopters eagerly awaiting the delivery of what many industry analysts are calling a pivotal device for the augmented and extended reality markets.

Reflecting on the milestone, Xreal co-founder and CEO Chi Xu emphasized the broader implications of the device’s release for the tech sector.

"This is a defining moment for XR," Xu said in a company press release. "Chúng tôi built AURA for people who want the power of spatial computing without being removed from the world around them. XREAL AURA is finally here, and we’re so proud to unlock new ways for people to work, watch, play, and build."

Advanced Technology Integration and Ecosystem

Because the Xreal Aura operates on the Android XR platform, the glasses benefit from deeply integrated technologies developed by industry giants Google and Qualcomm. Under the hood, the wearable is powered by Google’s sophisticated AI assistant, Gemini, alongside Qualcomm’s advanced Snapdragon Reality Elite platform. This hardware and software synergy allows the Aura to transition seamlessly between productivity tasks and immersive entertainment.

Users of the Xreal Aura gain immediate access to millions of familiar mobile applications and games available through the Google Play Store, alongside specialized, tailor-made XR experiences designed specifically for spatial computing environments.

Entertainment and sports enthusiasts will find specialized software optimizations waiting for them out of the box. For basketball fans, the dedicated NBA app for Android XR delivers a comprehensive multiview experience—complete with an NBA League Pass subscription—enabling users to monitor multiple live matchups, access real-time statistics, and follow deep game analytics. Similarly, the NASCAR XR app brings fans closer to high-speed motorsport action by providing a live 3D track map, detailed driver telemetry, and other interactive features designed to take advantage of the spatial display canvas.

On the hardware front, the Xreal Aura packs an impressive array of specifications into a lightweight form factor. The device delivers a wide 70-degree field of view (FOV), utilizes advanced Sony Micro-OLED displays capable of a crisp 1200p resolution at a smooth 120Hz refresh rate, and incorporates high-grade audio through a partnership with Sound by Bose, among a multitude of other embedded features.

The Day Has Arrived: Retail Availability and Market Reception

Consumers ready to purchase the device can place their orders directly through Xreal’s official digital storefront. In addition to direct-to-consumer online sales, Xreal has secured retail partnerships, making the glasses available at select Best Buy locations starting on launch day. Looking further ahead, the company has outlined plans to expand distribution in 2027, bringing the Aura XR glasses to additional major retailers and select Google Stores across the United States and Japan.

The commercial debut follows a wave of robust early interest that caught even the manufacturer by surprise. Xreal’s CEO noted that enthusiasm for the hardware has consistently topped internal projections. Back in August, reservations for the Xreal Aura surpassed 10,000 units, resulting in several pre-order packages selling out entirely. Consumers gravitated toward Xreal’s early guarantee that the final retail price point would remain below the $1,500 threshold before applicable taxes. While Chi Xu acknowledged that the company felt deeply encouraged by the initial turnout, he emphasized that the hardware ecosystem still has plenty of room to grow and demonstrate its full potential.

Beyond standard applications and media streaming, the Xreal Aura will feature a curated selection of interactive entertainment titles available right at launch. Highlights include Project Hail Mary: Journey Among the Stars, made possible through a strategic partnership with Amazon MGM Studios, and Fallout: Factions developed by Modiphius Entertainment.

"XREAL AURA sets a new benchmark for OST [optical see-through] XR glasses, bringing powerful AI-driven experiences to both work and everyday life," Xu added.

Industry observers who have experienced the hardware firsthand have frequently remarked on its engineering achievements. Following hands-on testing of the Xreal Aura during Google I/O, reviewers noted that the device successfully achieves the ambitious feat of packing the capabilities of a full-scale virtual reality headset into a sleek pair of glasses that tip the scales at just 95 grams.
