VanEck Launches Multi-Asset Wealth Builder ETF Featuring Spot Bitcoin Allocation

Major US asset manager VanEck has officially expanded its investment product lineup with the launch of an actively managed exchange-traded fund designed to blend traditional asset classes with digital currencies. The newly introduced fund, trading on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker WBMO and known as the VanEck Wealth Builder ETF, integrates stocks, bonds, and real assets while incorporating a targeted allocation specifically tailored toward Bitcoin.

According to the official announcement released by the firm, the newly debuted exchange-traded fund invests across a diversified mix of both VanEck-branded and third-party exchange-traded products. Within this diversified framework, the fund maintains a baseline target Bitcoin allocation of 2%, operating within a strictly governed permitted range of 1% to 5%. Rather than acquiring or holding the underlying digital asset directly on its balance sheet, the fund achieves its cryptocurrency exposure by investing through a spot Bitcoin exchange-traded product.

This innovative offering builds directly upon VanEck’s established suite of Wealth Builder model portfolios, which have previously been accessible primarily to financial advisors operating across various third-party wealth management platforms. The underlying strategy of the fund incorporates broad exposure to global equities, fixed-income instruments, gold, and a variety of other real assets. These diverse allocations are continuously overseen, managed, and periodically rebalanced by VanEck’s professional asset management team to align with changing market dynamics.

The introduction of the Wealth Builder ETF comes at a time when traditional portfolio construction methods are facing renewed scrutiny from institutional and retail investment managers alike. Commenting on the strategic rationale behind the new fund, David Schassler, VanEck’s head of multi-asset solutions, emphasized that the conventional financial blueprint no longer serves every investor adequately in the current macroeconomic environment.

"The traditional 60/40 portfolio was built for a different investment landscape," Schassler stated, highlighting the necessity for modernization in multi-asset portfolio management. He further explained that integrating real assets alongside traditional equities and fixed income can provide investors with enhanced resilience, potentially helping them navigate a much wider and more volatile range of economic conditions.

The launch of the VanEck Wealth Builder ETF follows closely on the heels of other strategic initiatives by the firm aimed at bridging the gap between traditional finance and the digital asset ecosystem. Notably, in March, VanEck established a partnership with the retirement platform Basic Capital. That collaboration successfully made a curated selection of the asset manager’s digital asset exchange-traded products accessible through employer-sponsored 401(k) retirement plans across the United States, signaling a growing acceptance of crypto assets within long-term retirement planning vehicles.

With these ongoing developments, VanEck continues to cement its footprint in the broader financial landscape. As of September 30, the company managed approximately $244.1 billion in assets globally, placing it among the prominent asset management institutions actively exploring the intersection of traditional multi-asset strategies and emerging digital financial technologies.
