The move comes as Marvel prepares to round out a loosely connected television trilogy that began with WandaVision in 2021, continued with Agatha All Along in 2024, and concludes this month with VisionQuest. While it remains unclear whether Disney intends to keep the first three episodes accessible on YouTube indefinitely or if they will eventually be removed once VisionQuest begins rolling out its episodes, the temporary or permanent free release serves as a timely refresher for viewers looking to re-familiarize themselves with the emotional and narrative foundation of the corner of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
WandaVision originally arrived on Disney Plus in early 2021 as the first television series produced by Marvel Studios for the platform, establishing a new era of interconnectivity between the MCU’s theatrical releases and its streaming slate. The series picked up with Wanda Maximoff, portrayed by Elizabeth Olsen, in the immediate aftermath of the devastating events of Avengers: Endgame. Reeling from profound loss and grief, Wanda finds herself living an idyllic, seemingly picture-perfect life in a quaint suburban town alongside Vision, played by Paul Bettany.
However, the reality of their suburban existence quickly proves to be deeply unsettling and artificial. The core mystery of the show hinges on the jarring contradiction that Vision had died at the hands of Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War, yet he is alive, well, and playing the role of a devoted suburban husband. To process her overwhelming grief and isolate herself from a harsh reality, Wanda inadvertently uses her immense chaos magic to warp a small New Jersey town into a living television broadcast. Across its nine-episode run, WandaVision brilliantly explores themes of mourning, trauma, and acceptance by structuring its narrative through a lens that mimics classic American sitcoms from different decades, evolving from black-and-white comedies of the 1950s into modern mockumentary-style television as the magical construct begins to crack under pressure.
For viewers who wish to dive deeper into the series beyond the initial three episodes currently streaming on YouTube, the complete nine-episode season remains available on Disney Plus, though subscribers face the platform following recent price hikes.

VisionQuest premieres Oct. 14
The conclusion of this particular thematic trilogy is set to arrive with VisionQuest, which stands as the next major television entry for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The upcoming series will follow the resurrected, white-bodied version of Vision who was last seen in WandaVision—an entity stripped of his original memories and emotions, left to wander the world and figure out his own identity.
In his quest to understand what it means to be human and self-aware, this iteration of Vision will not be alone. He will cross paths with and work alongside other artificial intelligence characters from the broader Marvel lore, including figures like Ultron, portrayed by James Spader, and Friday, voiced by Orla Brady.
Promotional material and trailers for the series have revealed that iconic AI constructs such as Ultron will manifest with human appearances rather than strictly traditional robotic chassis. Addressing this creative choice, series showrunner Terry Matalas explained in an interview that the decision was driven by performance and storytelling rather than budget constraints. Matalas noted a desire to see powerhouse actors like James Spader fully emote, interact, and perform in ways that computer-generated robotic models simply cannot capture.
Matalas highlighted that while audiences will still receive plenty of traditional robotic action and sci-fi elements, the dynamic between Spader and Bettany serves as a vital anchor for the show. The showrunner pointed out that the concept draws spiritual inspiration from the final philosophical conversation between Vision and Ultron in Avengers: Age of Ultron, noting that watching the two seasoned actors share the screen and trade dialogue was a vision he held in mind from the very inception of the project.
VisionQuest is scheduled to premiere exclusively on Disney Plus, launching with a two-episode debut on October 14.
