APNIC Advances Resource Delegation Review Program with Key Milestone Updates at APNIC 62

The Asia-Pacific Network Information Centre (APNIC) has provided a comprehensive update on the ongoing progression of its resource delegation review program during the third quarter of 2026, sharing key operational developments with the broader internet community at the APNIC 62 conference. The systematic review initiative, which serves as a cornerstone of APNIC’s regional governance and compliance efforts, is designed to thoroughly examine all IPv4 resource delegations and historical transfers made across a sweeping ten-year window by both APNIC and its associated National Internet Registries (NIRs). By auditing these historical allocations, the organization aims to verify that current holding entities are strictly maintaining compliance with established address policies and registry guidelines.

During the latest quarterly reporting period, significant operational milestones were achieved across several key regional registries. Most notably, the initial data reviews for both the Indian Registry for Internet Names and Numbers (IRINN) and the China Internet Network Information Center (CNNIC) were successfully completed. The preliminary findings and detailed data derived from the IRINN review were formally transmitted to IRINN and its parent organization, the National Internet Exchange of India (NIXI), in September. Meanwhile, APNIC confirmed its timeline to share the corresponding results of the CNNIC data review with CNNIC leadership in October, marking another critical step in ensuring transparency and collaborative oversight across diverse economic zones.

In tandem with these conclusions, the complex process surrounding other regional registries continued to move forward through various stages of auditing and evaluation. The final data review for APNIC’s Indonesian registry counterpart, IDNIC, is currently well underway. This ongoing assessment specifically covers the remaining five-year period that was intentionally excluded from IDNIC’s initial delegation review phase, ensuring that the entire historical footprint of the registry is subjected to the same rigorous compliance standards. Furthermore, the internal operational scope of the program widened significantly in September with the official commencement of the analysis of APNIC’s own registry data, subjecting direct APNIC allocations to the exact same analytical scrutiny applied to external NIR partners.

Collaboration remains a central pillar of the review program’s methodology. APNIC continues to maintain close, active working relationships with the Vietnam Internet Network Information Center (VNNIC), IDNIC, and now IRINN, working hand-in-hand with administrative teams to meticulously evaluate initial delegation review results. This collaborative engagement is vital for filtering out anomalies, resolving discrepancies, and eliminating any potential false positives that may arise during automated or preliminary manual data evaluations. These cooperative remediation workflows follow the successful completion of earlier regional audits, with comprehensive reviews for the Taiwan Network Information Center (TWNIC), the Korea Network Information Center (KRNIC), and the Japan Network Information Center (JPNIC) already finalized in preceding phases.

Looking ahead toward the remainder of the project lifecycle, APNIC has outlined an ambitious timeline for completion. The organization’s overarching objective is to have every regional review either fully completed or formally handed over to the respective NIRs for final checking, verification, and necessary remediation by the close of 2026. Following this milestone, APNIC anticipates officially concluding the broader resource delegation review program in the early months of 2027. At that juncture, the comprehensive findings and consolidated results of the multi-year auditing effort will be shared transparently with the broader internet community.

While the formal program window is slated to wrap up in early 2027, registry officials acknowledge that certain long-term remediation activities may naturally extend beyond the official conclusion date as administrative adjustments and policy alignments are finalized with individual holders. To maintain transparency and provide stakeholders with continuous visibility into the initiative’s evolution, APNIC continues to host dedicated documentation, background information, and status updates on a specialized web page maintained through its corporate portal. As the project pushes toward its final operational phases, APNIC has confirmed that the next scheduled progress update will be delivered to the community in December 2026, detailing the final stretch of data evaluations and preparations for the upcoming conclusion of the program.
