The Asia-Pacific Network Information Centre (APNIC) has continued to make significant headway in its comprehensive resource delegation review program throughout the third quarter of 2026. Details regarding the ongoing initiative were formally presented to the community at the APNIC 62 conference, highlighting steady operational progress as the organization works toward auditing a decade’s worth of IPv4 allocations and transfers.
The primary objective of the resource delegation review program is to carefully examine all IPv4 resource delegations and transfers managed by both APNIC and individual National Internet Registries (NIRs) over a comprehensive 10-year period. By systematically reviewing these historical allocations, APNIC aims to ensure that current address policies continue to be strictly observed, maintaining the integrity, transparency, and efficient distribution of critical internet number resources throughout the broader Asia-Pacific region.
During the third quarter of 2026, the initial data reviews for the Indian Registry for Internet Names and Numbers (IRINN) and the China Internet Network Information Center (CNNIC) reached completion. The findings and preliminary results stemming from the IRINN review were formally transmitted to IRINN and its parent organization, the National Internet Exchange of India (NIXI), in September. Meanwhile, APNIC confirmed that it anticipates sharing the corresponding review results with CNNIC in October, keeping the multi-agency auditing schedule on track.
At the same time, work has advanced on other regional registries. The final data review for the Indonesia Network Information Center (IDNIC)—which specifically covers the five-year period that was intentionally excluded from IDNIC’s initial delegation review—is currently underway. Furthermore, the analysis of APNIC’s own internal registry data officially commenced in September, marking another major milestone in the overarching review roadmap.
APNIC maintains an active, collaborative approach with regional partners as part of the verification process. The organization is currently working closely with VNNIC, IDNIC, and newly incorporated IRINN to thoroughly evaluate their respective delegation review results, resolve discrepancies, and eliminate any false positives that may have emerged during the automated and manual analysis phases. Meanwhile, comprehensive reviews for the Taiwan Network Information Center (TWNIC), the Korea Network Information Center (KRNIC), and the Japan Network Information Center (JPNIC) have already been successfully completed.
Looking ahead, APNIC has established an ambitious timeline for the remainder of the program. The regional registry aims to have all individual reviews either fully completed or handed over to the respective NIRs for final checking and necessary remediation by the close of 2026. Following this milestone, APNIC hopes to officially conclude the core review program in early 2027, at which point the comprehensive findings will be broadly shared with the wider internet community. While the formal review program is slated to wrap up at that time, it is fully expected that some targeted remediation and compliance activities may continue past the program’s conclusion.
For stakeholders, operators, and community members seeking deeper insight into the mechanics and scope of the initiative, comprehensive information regarding the resource delegation review program is maintained on a dedicated web page hosted by APNIC. The organization remains committed to transparency throughout the auditing process and plans to deliver its next formal progress update to the community in December 2026.
