Amazon Unveils the Kindle Click Bluetooth Remote Alongside a Major E-Reader Hardware Redesign

Alongside a newly redesigned Kindle hardware lineup featuring slimmer profiles, zero bezels, and a significantly lighter feel in the hand, tech giant Amazon announced a diverse range of new accessories on Thursday. Among the fresh additions is a $34.99 compact Bluetooth remote called the Kindle Click, an item that immediately stands out as a practical solution for a very specific type of avid reader.

The Kindle Click is a compact Bluetooth remote specifically designed to let readers turn pages seamlessly without ever having to physically touch their Kindle device. While the underlying concept is remarkably simple, it addresses a surprisingly common annoyance for e-reader owners who must continuously reach over and tap or swipe the screen every single time they want to advance to the next page.

The small, unobtrusive remote is engineered for moments and environments where touching the Kindle directly is inconvenient or outright uncomfortable. Amazon is explicitly positioning the accessory for cozy reading sessions under the covers in bed, exercising on a treadmill at the gym, or relaxing with a Kindle resting securely on a tray table during a long-haul flight. Instead of awkwardly stretching an arm or breaking focus to reach for the e-reader resting on a stand or held at a distance, readers can simply press a discreet button on the handheld remote to advance the text effortlessly.

The new accessory offers broad compatibility, working seamlessly with all newly announced Kindle devices as well as previous Kindle hardware models released in 2024 and later.

For years, Kindle owners have largely had to rely on a variety of third-party accessories to achieve hands-free reading. Many of these aftermarket alternatives use a bulky clip-on mechanism that physically attaches to the display bezel and taps the screen mechanically, rather than communicating directly with the Kindle’s operating system via wireless protocols.

By introducing the Kindle Click, Amazon is officially entering a product category that competing hardware manufacturers have already begun exploring over the last few years. Rakuten Kobo, for instance, launched its own $29.99 Kobo Remote last year to cater to users seeking uninterrupted, hands-free reading experiences. Similarly, the market has seen the introduction of the BOOX Tappy, a $29.99 wireless page turner specifically designed for BOOX ePaper devices and productivity-focused tablets.

While Amazon’s Kindle Click is priced slightly higher than these competing accessories from rivals, the company is likely betting heavily that dedicated Kindle owners will happily pay a small premium for an official, first-party accessory engineered specifically to integrate with the broader Kindle ecosystem. This launch coincides with the introduction of a new Kindle lineup, which represents one of the most substantial physical hardware redesigns the product family has seen in years. According to Amazon, the newly refreshed displays are engineered to be 30% faster at executing page turns than the previous generation, creating a snappier and more responsive reading experience overall.

In addition to the Kindle Click, Amazon also announced a variety of other hardware accessories as part of the broader new Kindle family rollout. These additional products include a specially designed magnetic cover featuring physical page-turn buttons for tactile feedback, as well as a dedicated charging dock stand tailored for the high-end Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition and the Colorsoft Signature Edition.
