TECNO Pushes the Boundaries of Thin-Phone Design and Battery Life with the New Camon Slim 5G

TECNO is doubling down on its commitment to ultra-thin mobile hardware with the announcement of its latest device, the Camon Slim 5G. Measuring a razor-thin 6.39mm, the new smartphone somehow manages to pack in a remarkably large 6,000mAh battery, a high-end 50-megapixel Sony camera system, and a suite of advanced artificial intelligence features into its compact and lightweight chassis.

The device also places a heavy emphasis on aesthetic design and individuality. Inheriting the curved "swan-neck" profile first introduced in the broader Camon 50 series, the Camon Slim 5G arrives in five distinct color finishes that give the phone very different personalities: Burgundy Red, Neo Mondrian, Matisse Black, Van Gogh Blue, and Rebel Pink.

Several of these artistic finishes incorporate inventive manufacturing techniques. The Neo Mondrian edition utilizes photochromic technology, allowing colorful geometric blocks to emerge when the chassis is exposed to ultraviolet light. Meanwhile, the Van Gogh Blue variant features a patterned gradient coating designed to evoke the swirling brushstrokes of The Starry Night. The Matisse Black model introduces striking fluorescent green accents set against a black fiberglass body, while Burgundy Red and Rebel Pink offer more traditional, yet still vibrant, takes on the device’s artistic theme.

Beneath its striking exterior, the Camon Slim 5G is built for serious photography. It is equipped with a 50MP Sony LYTIA 700C main camera featuring a 1/1.56-inch sensor, close-loop autofocus, and a comprehensive triple stabilization system that combines optical image stabilization (OIS), electronic image stabilization (EIS), and a dedicated AI Shutter. To ensure users never miss a fleeting moment, TECNO has included a Super-Zoom FlashSnap feature capable of automatically capturing fast-moving subjects with shutter speeds as fast as 1/11236 of a second, alongside 2x telephoto shooting capabilities.

Portrait photography is similarly well-supported on the new device. Users are given versatile 24mm, 35mm, and 50mm portrait options, all backed by TECNO Universal Tone technology to ensure accurate and flattering skin-tone rendering across diverse subjects. Furthermore, TECNO offers an optional Mag Badge accessory that attaches to the device, providing an extra 1.73-inch AMOLED screen, remote shutter control functionality from up to 10 meters away, and convenient selfie previews.

Beyond photography, TECNO has integrated a robust artificial intelligence toolkit into the software experience. Rather than focusing solely on basic image editing, the AI suite extends into productivity and daily utility. Tools like AI Snap Poster enable users to effortlessly generate professional product graphics, while AI Recording Notes can automatically convert lengthy lectures or meetings into organized, readable notes. Additionally, the software features an AI Class Schedule function to digitize academic timetables and an AI Healthy Eating tool designed to calculate calories and nutrient breakdowns directly from food photographs.

Strikingly, the phone’s emphasis on an ultra-slim profile has not come at the expense of structural durability. TECNO has engineered the device to withstand harsh environmental conditions, equipping it with rigorous IP69K, IP69, IP68, and IP66 ingress protection ratings. Coupled with MIL-STD-810 military-grade certification and enhanced wet-touch capabilities, the handset is thoroughly protected against dust, high-pressure water jets, and accidental drops.

The front of the device is dominated by a sweeping 6.78-inch 1.5K AMOLED panel boasting a smooth 144Hz refresh rate. Display technology has also been optimized to handle adverse weather conditions, ensuring that touch sensitivity remains functional even in the rain or when the device is enclosed inside a waterproof case.

Performance-wise, the Camon Slim 5G runs on a MediaTek Dimensity 7300e 5G chipset, providing reliable connectivity and processing power. To ensure long-term software viability, TECNO has committed to delivering three major operating system upgrades alongside five years of dedicated security updates for the device.

While the Camon Slim 5G is currently being rolled out across various international markets, TECNO has not yet disclosed specific local pricing details or regional release dates. However, the company has confirmed that consumers in selected markets will receive an added perk with their purchase: a three-month trial subscription to Google AI Plus, which includes 2TB of cloud storage.
