The Asia-Pacific Network Information Centre (APNIC) has continued to make significant headway with its ongoing resource delegation review program throughout the third quarter of 2026. Detailed updates regarding the initiative’s progress were recently presented to the technical community during the APNIC 62 conference, highlighting a major push to ensure strict adherence to established regional addressing policies across the entire Asia-Pacific internet registry ecosystem.
At its core, the primary activity of the resource delegation review program involves a rigorous, systematic examination of all IPv4 resource delegations and inter-registry transfers managed by each National Internet Registry (NIR) as well as APNIC itself over a comprehensive 10-year historical period. This sweeping administrative effort is designed to guarantee that address policy compliance is rigorously maintained, verifying that vital internet number resources are held, managed, and transferred in strict accordance with the community-developed rules that govern the region’s digital infrastructure.
As part of the recent milestones achieved during the third quarter, initial data reviews for the Indian Registry for Internet Names and Numbers (IRINN) and the China Internet Network Information Center (CNNIC) have been successfully completed. The preliminary findings and detailed results stemming from the IRINN review were formally transmitted to IRINN and its parent organization, the National Internet Exchange of India (NIXI), in September. Building upon this momentum, APNIC anticipates sharing the corresponding review data and findings with CNNIC over the course of October.
Concurrently, evaluation efforts are advancing for other national registries within the region. The final data review for the Indonesian Network Information Center (IDNIC) is currently in active progress. This ongoing assessment covers the remaining five-year period that was not included in IDNIC’s initial delegation review, ensuring a complete and comprehensive evaluation of their historical resource allocations. Furthermore, the systematic analysis of APNIC’s own registry data officially commenced in September, marking an important internal step in the broader administrative audit.
APNIC maintains an active, collaborative posture with national registries to ensure accuracy throughout the evaluation lifecycle. The organization continues to work closely alongside the Vietnam Internet Network Information Center (VNNIC), IDNIC, and now IRINN to carefully evaluate their delegation review results and systematically eliminate any false positives that may arise during the data analysis phase. These cooperative validation efforts are crucial for maintaining the integrity of the audit data before final remediation steps are introduced. Meanwhile, similar comprehensive reviews for the Taiwan Network Information Center (TWNIC), the Korea Network Information Center (KRNIC), and the Japan Network Information Center (JPNIC) have already been successfully completed.
Looking ahead toward the final stages of the initiative, APNIC has established an ambitious operational timeline. The organization aims to have all remaining registry reviews either fully completed or handed over to the respective NIRs for detailed checking and subsequent remediation by the end of 2026. Following this milestone, APNIC hopes to formally conclude the program in early 2027, at which point the comprehensive findings and final results will be broadly shared with the wider internet operational community. Organization officials have noted that while the primary review program will wrap up around that time, certain remediation activities may naturally remain ongoing as registries address minor discrepancies.
For stakeholders, operators, and community members seeking deeper insight into the administrative mechanics and scope of the initiative, detailed information regarding the resource delegation review program is publicly maintained on a dedicated web page hosted by APNIC. The organization remains committed to transparency throughout the process and plans to provide its next formal update on the program’s advancement to the community in December 2026.
