APNIC Continues Progress on Resource Delegation Review Program with Key Milestones Reached in Q3 2026

APNIC has continued to make steady progress on its comprehensive resource delegation review program throughout the third quarter of 2026, providing a detailed update on its ongoing efforts during the APNIC 62 conference. The primary objective of this expansive program is to review all IPv4 resource delegations and transfers made by both APNIC and individual National Internet Registries over a comprehensive 10-year period. Through this systematic evaluation, the organization aims to ensure that address policy compliance is strictly maintained across the region, safeguarding the integrity and equitable distribution of internet number resources.

During the third quarter, significant operational milestones were achieved, particularly regarding the initial data reviews for IRINN and CNNIC. The results of the detailed IRINN review were formally provided to IRINN and NIXI in September, marking a crucial step forward in the audit process. Building on this momentum, APNIC expects to share the results of the CNNIC review with CNNIC officials in October. Meanwhile, the final data review for IDNIC is currently well underway, specifically covering the five-year period that was not included in the initial IDNIC delegation review.

As the program expands across different registries, the analysis of APNIC’s own registry data also officially commenced in September. This internal data review ensures that APNIC maintains the same high standards of accountability and policy alignment that it expects from external National Internet Registries operating within its service region.

Collaboration and thorough verification remain central to the success of the delegation review program. APNIC continues to work closely and cooperatively with VNNIC, IDNIC, and now IRINN to carefully evaluate their delegation review results and effectively eliminate any false positives that may arise during the data analysis phase. This cooperative approach ensures accuracy and fairness before any final remediation steps are finalized. Meanwhile, the delegation reviews for TWNIC, KRNIC, and JPNIC have already been fully completed, providing a solid foundation of successfully audited registries as the broader program moves forward.

Looking ahead, APNIC has established a clear timeline for the completion of the program. The organization aims to have all remaining reviews either fully completed or placed with the respective National Internet Registries for checking and remediation by the end of 2026. Following this phase, APNIC hopes to officially conclude the program in early 2027, at which point the comprehensive results will be shared transparently with the wider internet community. While the core review program is expected to conclude at that time, it is anticipated that some ongoing remediation activities may continue past the official conclusion date as registries address any identified policy discrepancies.

For stakeholders and community members seeking detailed information regarding the scope, methodology, and ongoing updates of the initiative, APNIC maintains a dedicated web page that houses relevant documentation about the resource delegation audit program. As the project advances toward its final stages, the next formal update to the community is scheduled to be provided in December 2026, keeping participants informed of the final steps toward program completion.
