APNIC Continues Progress on Resource Delegation Review Program with Key Milestones Reached in Q3 2026

APNIC has continued to make steady progress on its comprehensive resource delegation review program throughout the third quarter of 2026, providing a detailed status report on its ongoing initiatives at the APNIC 62 conference. The primary objective of this expansive review program is to carefully examine all IPv4 resource delegations and transfers handled by each National Internet Registry (NIR) and APNIC itself over a comprehensive 10-year period. Through this systematic oversight, the organization aims to ensure that all participating entities maintain strict compliance with established address policies, safeguarding the integrity and equitable distribution of internet number resources across the region.

As part of the operational momentum achieved during the quarter, initial data reviews for the Indian Registry for Internet Names and Numbers (IRINN) and the China Internet Network Information Center (CNNIC) have been successfully completed. The results stemming from the IRINN review were formally provided to IRINN and its parent organization, the National Internet Exchange of India (NIXI), in September. Building on this progress, APNIC anticipates sharing the comprehensive results of the CNNIC review with CNNIC officials during the month of October. Meanwhile, analytical work has also advanced regarding IDNIC, where the final data review covering the remaining five-year period—which was not included in the initial IDNIC delegation review—is currently underway.

In addition to evaluating the work carried out by external NIRs, APNIC has turned its attention inward. The detailed analysis of APNIC’s own registry data officially commenced in September, marking another critical component of the overarching review program designed to maintain transparency and rigorous adherence to policy standards across all administrative boundaries within the Asia-Pacific region.

Collaboration remains a cornerstone of the review process. APNIC continues to work closely with the Vietnam Internet Network Information Center (VNNIC), IDNIC, and now IRINN to evaluate their respective delegation review results meticulously. This cooperative engagement is vital for identifying and eliminating any false positives that may arise during the data analysis phase. These efforts follow the successful completion of reviews for several other prominent registries, including the Taiwan Network Information Center (TWNIC), the Korea Network Information Center (KRNIC), and the Japan Network Information Center (JPNIC), all of whose delegation reviews have already been finalized.

Looking ahead, APNIC has established a clear timeline for the conclusion of the program. The organization aims to have all resource delegation reviews either fully completed or returned to the respective NIRs for necessary checking and remediation by the end of 2026. Following this phase, APNIC hopes to officially conclude the program in early 2027, at which point the comprehensive findings and results will be shared transparently with the broader internet community. While the formal review program is slated to wrap up at that time, it is fully expected that certain remediation activities may continue to be ongoing as NIRs and stakeholders address and resolve any identified policy alignment matters.

For stakeholders, community members, and technical operators seeking deeper insights into the initiative, detailed information concerning the resource delegation review program is continuously maintained and updated on a dedicated web page hosted on the official APNIC website. As the program progresses toward its final operational phases, APNIC plans to deliver its next formal update to the community in December 2026, outlining further developments as the organization moves closer to the ultimate conclusion of the audit program.
