Crypto Lender Arch Lending Eyes Expansion Into Tokenized Equity Collateral as Onchain Markets Surge

Crypto lender Arch Lending is preparing to broaden its product offerings by introducing loans backed by tokenized equities, signaling a growing institutional appetite for integrating traditional financial assets into decentralized finance and digital lending frameworks.

The strategic shift comes as the broader market for onchain stocks experiences rapid expansion, prompting digital asset lenders to actively explore innovative use cases for tokenized securities as viable collateral.

Speaking on a recent episode of Cointelegraph’s Chain Reaction podcast, Arch co-founder and chief revenue officer Himanshu Sahay revealed that the lender intends to enter the tokenized equity lending space "pretty soon." Sahay emphasized that there is an increasingly urgent market demand for liquidity and credit secured against tokenized stocks, a sector that has historically remained largely underserved compared to traditional cryptocurrency collateral.

According to Sahay, while tokenized equities have witnessed extraordinary growth over the past year, the availability of credit backed specifically by these assets remains severely limited. However, he expressed confidence that the landscape is on the verge of significant transformation, predicting that a wave of competing lenders will soon enter the market to meet borrower demand.

Arch Lending eyes tokenized stocks as next collateral market

Highlighting the ecosystem’s momentum, Sahay pointed to tokenized equities issued by prominent firms such as Superstate, Robinhood, and Securitize. He noted that the involvement of these key market players lays a solid foundation for a multi-lender environment where institutional and retail participants alike can seamlessly secure credit against tokenized shares.

The planned expansion into tokenized stocks represents the latest step in Arch’s broader diversification strategy. The crypto lender has already moved beyond native digital currencies into the realm of tokenized real-world assets. In recent weeks, Arch successfully launched specialized lending products backed by Paxos Gold and Tether Gold, catering to clients seeking exposure to precious metals while retaining liquidity in digital asset structures.

Despite these pioneering expansions into real-world assets and upcoming tokenized equity products, traditional cryptocurrencies continue to form the backbone of Arch’s existing loan book. Sahay disclosed that Bitcoin accounts for more than 80 percent of the platform’s current collateral holdings. At the same time, the lender has observed a distinct surge in borrower interest regarding XRP as collateral, a trend that Sahay noted is particularly pronounced among borrowers based in the United States.

Tokenized stocks enter lending markets

Arch is far from alone in recognizing the potential of bridging traditional equities with digital lending infrastructure. Over the past several months, tokenized stocks and exchange-traded funds have steadily integrated into mainstream DeFi lending and collateral management products, laying the groundwork for a broader convergence of traditional finance and blockchain technology.

Arch Lending eyes tokenized stocks as next collateral market

Earlier in the year, Ondo Finance officially launched specialized decentralized finance lending markets for two of its tokenized exchange-traded funds through a strategic integration with the Morpho lending protocol. Under this framework, Ondo’s tokenized iterations of the prominent SPDR S&P 500 ETF and the Invesco QQQ trust can be utilized as reliable collateral by users seeking to borrow assets across the Ethereum network.

Beyond dedicated lending protocols, tokenized stocks are rapidly finding practical utility across a diverse array of crypto derivatives and margin trading platforms. In July, digital asset exchange Kraken made ten xStocks eligible to back user futures and margin positions. Meanwhile, Coinbase expanded its ecosystem capabilities in August by launching B20 stocks on its Base network, featuring advanced price-feed infrastructure specifically engineered to support downstream use cases such as decentralized borrowing and lending.

This acceleration in lending use cases and collateral integration occurs against the backdrop of a booming tokenized equities sector. According to data compiled by RWA.xyz, the total distributed value of tokenized stocks has climbed sharply, surging to approximately $3.15 billion from roughly $630 million just a year prior. As this market continues to mature, lenders like Arch Lending are positioning themselves to capture the burgeoning demand for liquidity, ultimately reshaping how traditional equities are utilized in the digital economy.
